Scruffy, Indie folk-rock from Transylvania

I have been working hard on making the ‘Monsters In The Christmas Album’ in the last few weeks – as I have plastered this information on every profile and webspace available to me, I’m very sure most of you know this. This and the fact that it will be out on December 1st and it will be a free download. Anyway, it was the most fast-paced recording marathon I’ve ever been involved in. Please read on, I will keep it short.

Initially, I wanted six songs for the record, so the task was to actually write and record one song per week. With only six weeks before the release, I later realized I had to work even faster than anticipated to have time for mastering as well. For those not familiar with the terms associated with music recording, mastering is done AFTER the record is fully recorded and mixed. What this meant is that I had to finish one week in advance to actually have time to master the thing properly. And if all that wasn’t enough, I wanted a video as well, so that bumped me back a few days also.
You can see why I had my hands full, I hope. Seriously, I’ve had nightmares thanks to this. BUT I am proud and glad to say: I’ve finished the last song today, so there is still plenty of time to do the mastering and any corrections required. Phew, right? Now, if only I could make it so all the artwork would be done in time too…

The working titles for the songs at this point (not necessarily in the order they will appear on the record):
1. Christmas Song
2. The Eyes, The Beard, The Nose, The Stomach, The Lungs
3. To Get Away From Everything
4. God, Is Christmas Time A Dream?
5. Taste Like Candy
6. Christmas Is A-lookin’ Good

Come back here on the 1st of December if you want to get some really alternative Christmas songs for free. And tell your family and friends, OK? 🙂

The first video for the “Monsters In The Christmas Album” is now done. I am hoping for some Youtube and Facebook love from all of you, getting this thing out there will make me very happy when I finally make the album public on December 1st. It will be a free download, as I might’ve already mentioned.

Happy Halloween!

It’s November everyone! As I promised, the free downloading of my Monsters In Rome record, which I have been offering for a whole month, will now stop. I hope you enjoyed it, the response to this campaign was up to my expectations, so I am not at all sorry for thinking about it. I will most likely have other campaigns of this sort in the future. In order to keep yourself informed, I recommend subscribing to my newsletter.
The Monsters In Rome album is still available for purchase or for free streaming right here on the website. If you wish to buy Compact Discs, I still have some from my LIMITED EDITION edition, and I am glad to personalize them for you, if you wish. The digital version of the album is also still up for grabs, I decided to keep it on a name-your-price basis, with a minimum price of 3$. Hope you understand.
In the meantime, I will be working away on an alternative Christmas album, you will get to see the results soon enough.

IN OTHER NEWS: Monsters In Rome seems to be a good Halloween track as it has been featured in two round-ups around the web, and The Mad Mackerel has also included it on a Best Of October mix.

As I said earlier this month, I am offering the “Monsters In Rome” record for free download until the 1st of November. I also said that I will be offering no more than 500 downloads, but seeing that November is just around the corner, and the number of downloads has just recently reached 500, I decided to keep the downloading free for a few more days. But no later than the 1st of November, so hurry up to download the album now, or PAY for the consequences! 😛

In other news: I am working on a Christmas album – or EP, or whatever they call it – which I will publish on the last week of November. It will not consist of a collection of carols, as some might expect, but a bunch of original songs, in the manner of my first release. I have almost all of the details figured out regarding the release, but I am only going to make the title public for now: Monsters In The Christmas Album. 🙂
